Amongst all things, I am an ARTIST first. I am a lover and creator of art form. My most celebrated form is that of MAKEUP APPLICATION.My name is Joslyn R. Spurlock. I was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and I was raised in a town right between Dallas and Fort Worth, also known as ARLINGTON, TEXAS. I have been obsessed with both art and cosmetics since childhood. I grew fascinated with the beauty I saw on television and magazines, and I thought to myself "I want to be a part of that one day!"

Before pursuing a professional career in cosmetics, I attended Texas A&M University where I studied Sociology and Business Administration. During my years of college, my friends and family relied on me to create custom beauty looks for each of them before parties and special events. Upon graduating it became more clear that my passion was in cosmetics, and JOSS THE BOSS Makeup Artistry was born.

My 6+ years of experience in cosmetics is comprised of retail, corporate, and free-lance artistry. Prior to becoming my own boss, I worked at MAC Cosmetics as an artist, and later moved to New York to join the Education & Artistry at MAKE UP FOR EVER. In these roles I learned some fundamental knowledge, but I am still very much a self-taught makeup artist. My goal is to make women feel just as beautiful as I make them look. Although quality service is at the heart of my business, appointments are customized to each client as I believe every makeover should be as unique as the woman sitting in the chair.

With this experience and knowledge, I was able to launch B O S S  Luxury Makeup Tools, a brand of cosmetics brushes, supplies, and accessories for amateurs, professionals, and everyone in between.
